An ancient computer comes to life in LEGO.

Client: Digital Science

The Antikythera Mechanism is the world’s first analog computer: built by ancient Greeks to predict astronomical cycles using an intricate assembly of gears. An engineer at Apple rebuilt it in LEGO, and Digital Science commissioned me to make a promotional film showing how it works.

With a prop this cool, CGI was out of the question. Instead, I worked with a team of stop-motion animators from Coraline to bring the LEGO model itself to life. The film went viral on Youtube, gathering 3.5 million views.
