What if your local watershed matters more than your carbon footprint? To introduce this idea to L.A. residents, ARLA and Spherical wanted a film that would “enchant”—not just explain.

Inspired by the physicality of relief maps, we used tilt-shift effects (created by Emmy-award-winning VFX artist Ethan Summers) to make digital renderings of the Los Angeles Basin come alive like magic miniatures—including a unique “wooden water” effect for the L.A. River.
