Research workshop on the natural history of cellphones.
Client: Smithsonian Institution / National Museum of Natural History
The Smithsonian’s exhibit “Cellphone: Unseen Connections” began with an question: what should be included in a natural history of the world’s most ubiquitous technology?
I worked with the exhibit team to convene a two-day workshop for technologists, scientists, and historians to surface themes and storylines for the exhibit. I synthesized the workshop outputs into narrative frameworks that Smithsonian used to guide its formal Statement of Purpose for designing the exhibit. “Unseen Connections” is on view until 2028.
